I grew up in South Texas, before the Border Wall was built. I can remember looking across the Rio Grande and wondering, What makes those plants trees goats rocks and people Mexican and these American? I still wonder, though now I obsess over it from my home in Iowa. My writing, which ranges from haiku to novels, often explores boundaries, taboos, and those who defy them. I also blog about reading, writing, mental health issues, horror across genres, and Latin@ representation in media. To read some of my work, much of it available online, please refer to the Publications page.

I’m active on Twitter. Less so on Facebook.

You may contact me at cafenowhere AT gmail.com. Thanks for stopping by!
